Here is a very nice original Automatic Electric Monophone A1 cradle telephone that was manufactured in the 1920s. This particular phone is Mahagany bakelite. Mahogany was one of the colors you could special order back then.
This rather pristine telephone is rare because most of these did not have 24Kt gold hardware Many had painted brass bands and some ebay sellers like to polish the brass handset bands which was never original.
This is a very good example of art deco. The stylish bakelite Type 38 handset with the spitcup has had its 24KT gold plated bands . The finger wheel has 24Kt gold plating as as well. All bakelite has been polished to a high gloss. There is no damage or issues with this rather pristine phone.
We have been restoring antique telephones for 18 years and we love what we do and it shows.
NOTE: You can order this phone with a black braided extensicord for the handset. If you want this braided extensicord add $85 to auction price once auction ends. These extensi cords are very much sought after.
