Here is a very nice original Automatic Electric Monophone A1 cradle telephone that was manufactured in the 1920s. This particular phone is Mahagany bakelite. Mahogany was one of the colors you could special order back then. What is unusual and very unique is the nickle plated dial blank on this beautiful telephone. These are rarely seen.
This rather pristine telephone is rare because most of these did not have Nickel hardware. Many had painted brass bands and some ebay sellers like to polish the brass handset bands which was never original.
Comes with the fancy braided extensi handset cord.
This is a very good example of art deco. The stylish bakelite Type 38 handset with the spitcup has had its Nickel plated bands. The finger wheel has Nickel plating as as well. All bakelite has been polished to a high gloss. There is no damage or issues with this rather pristine phone.
We have been restoring antique telephones for 18 years and we love what we do and it shows.
