Here is an original 653A Western Electric wall telephone which was made in the 1920s. This one still has the 2HB dial with the fancy finger stop. There is also a very rare celluloid dial number card and holder which is all original.
The rarest part of this is the original Western Electric metal writing shelf and back board came with this. Seldom ever seen or found together.
The finish is original and it has not been repainted. It is the original Japan Black finish. Most have the bulldog transmitter as they were refurbished by Western Electric in the 1940s. This one has not been refurbished and it has the original transmitter.
This is the wall version of the candlestick telephone and it works very well. Its 2 gong ringer provides a beautiful ring that can only be heard in phones from the 1920s and 1930s.
